Description

This image captures the central region of a small cluster of 40 distant galaxies located 370 million light years away in the constellation of Lynx at a declination of +58 degrees.

The field of view here is about 45 arc-minutes wide and the largest individual galaxy (UGC 4270, at the bottom right image edge) is only about 1 arc-minute, which correponds to a Milky Way like diameter of 130,000 light years.  The image is about 5 million light years wide overall.

This cluster is unusual in the number of prominent spirals.  The full resolution view reveals a number of interesting galaxy disk structures.
